Is the Submission Fee refundable?

No, submission fees are non refundable.

A player will be required to provide one (1)Spotify or Apple Music song on the registration form.

Can I use a cover song?

No. All songs must be original.

Do I need a copyright for my song?

MSL does not require songs to have a copyright, although, we highly recommend players to protect themselves by registering for a copyright.

Does my song need to be under a Performance Rights Organization?

No, although it is highly recommended that you register your song under either BMI, ASCAP, or SOCAN.

Does my song need to be registered with SoundExchange?

No, but it is highly recommended that your song is registered under SoundExchange to ensure your royalties are being collected for your Spotify/Apple Music streams. Visit www.SoundExchange.com

Can I use a song that’s on YouTube?

No. Because of the nature of the Song vs Song Series, all songs that compete must be listed in either Spotify/Apple Music. No exceptions.

How can I get my song(s) on Spotify/Apple Music

We recommend the follow Digital Distributors. United Masters (Unitedmasters.com) or Distro Kid (Distrokid.com)
